TCARC supports ARES emergency communications in Tioga County through Pennsylvania’s Auxiliary Communication Services (ACS) program.

TCARC ARES Update

In late 2025, TCARC voted to establish a local ARES group and began work on the ARES Task Book process. Training, exercises, and additional updates will be posted as the program develops.

Go-Kit Basics

When responding to an assignment, plan to be self-sufficient. A simple kit can make a big difference.

Short Assignment (local)

  • Water + snacks
  • Weather-appropriate clothing / rain gear
  • Any needed medication
  • Small first-aid kit
  • Notepad + pen
  • Copy of your amateur license
  • Phone charger / power bank

Overnight / Extended

  • Warm layer + spare socks
  • Headlamp / flashlight
  • Extra water + simple food
  • Blanket or sleeping bag
  • Basic hygiene items
  • Optional: small shelter items if needed
